Journal proposals take two forms:
1. a new launch and
2. an existing journal where you are looking for a new publisher.
We launch many new journals each year to cover areas of research which may not be served by existing journals, or where a niche market needs to be addressed. We also are proud to be the publishers of many journals on behalf of scholarly societies and groups of academics, details of which can be found at http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals. These guidelines may be helpful regardless of the publishing company you are approaching.
1. New Launches
Please include as much information as possible. You should include market information such as how many departments/academics currently work in this area (a useful link would be http://www.searchedu.com which will help with this task); aims and scope are very important, so be sure to let us know who you think the journal is aimed at; include your Curriculum Vitae putting into context your work in this area.
2. Finding a new publisher
In the first instance, contact the selected publishing company to make arrangements for an informal discussion about your requirements. For Media and Cultural Studies , you could contact Tracy Roberts at Taylor & Francis. It would be helpful if you could send some sample copies, together with details on the current subscription rates and numbers of subscribers.
